We build AI for defence that works at the edge, without the network. This page sets out who we work with, and the rules we follow.

The rules we follow

01Who we work with

We build for defence: armed forces, the authorities that work beside them, and the companies that build for both.

We work with

  • Defence and security forces of Finland, other EU and NATO countries, and countries they support
  • Defence companies and integrators delivering to them

We do not work with

  • Countries under EU or UN arms embargoes or sanctions
  • Anyone who will not tell us, in writing, who will use our products and for what
  • Uses aimed at repressing people or watching a population
  • Private individuals

We check every customer and use before we sign, and again before each export licence. We win work on merit: we do not offer or accept bribes or improper benefits, directly or through agents or partners.

02People in control

Our AI supports people's decisions. Today EdgeOS shows people what it finds, and people decide what happens next.

As autonomy grows, these rules hold for everything we build:

  • The commander sets how far autonomy goes, mission by mission.
  • The limits are enforced in software, outside the AI.
  • What the system did, and why, is recorded so it can be checked.

We follow NATO's Principles of Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in Defence: lawful, responsible and accountable, explainable and traceable, reliable, governable, and with unintended bias kept in check.

03Export control

EdgeOS is export-controlled defence materiel under Finnish law, and so is any node that runs it.

Moving them out of Finland, inside the EU included, needs an export licence, and so do the technical data and support that come with them. We apply before every transfer, and we do not ship without a licence.

04Human rights

We respect international humanitarian law and human rights. We follow the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in how we choose customers, uses and suppliers.

Before we sign, we look at who will use our products, where and for what. These are the same tests the EU sets for arms exports. We say no, or stop, where there is a clear risk that our products would be used to break international humanitarian law or human rights law.

Concerns about how our products are used can go to contact@hardpointos.com. A person reads every message.

05Our suppliers

We build in Vantaa, from parts we choose and test ourselves. We check suppliers against EU sanctions lists before we buy, and we ask every supplier to:

  • Follow the law where they work, including labour, environmental and anti-corruption law.
  • Respect human rights, with no forced or child labour.
  • Tell us where critical parts come from, and how they are controlled for export.
  • Keep our information confidential, and tell us promptly about security incidents.
  • Ask the same of their own suppliers.
